Pottery Classes

North Country Community College’s Art Department will host a pair of six-week pottery classes on the Saranac Lake campus this fall.

Open to the public, the Wheel Throwing and Hand Building classes will take place in the college’s Pottery Studio and cost $125 each.

Wheel Throwing will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. from Sept. 17 through Oct. 24. Participants will learn how to center clay on the wheel and throw or improve their throwing skills. This course is open to all levels, from beginners to experienced potters.

Hand Building will run from Oct. 29 to Dec. 5, also on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. Beginner to experienced potters are welcome. Participants will construct various forms without the use of the potter’s wheel. The course includes working with textures, adding handles, and the use of patterns.
