Services: We offer tutoring, academic coaching, and testing services to current NCCC students. In-person and remote tutoring & coaching sessions are available.

The Learning Assistance Centers provide academic support for students on all three of our campuses, Malone, Ticonderoga, and Saranac Lake, and for our online students. We encourage you to visit the LAC and to take advantage of our testing services, one-on-one tutoring, study groups led by tutors, research and writing support, or workshops on strengthening study skills. We have both professional tutors and peer tutors. Your success is important to us!

Welcome to STAR-NY Online Tutoring!
For optimal performance, use a laptop, desktop, or tablet with an updated version of Google Chrome, Firefox, or MS Edge.
Turn off Pop-Up Blockers. Use of phone is not recommended as some features of STAR may not function.
Audio and/or Video tutoring is available, so ask your tutor to switch to AV if that is your preference!

Spring 2026 tutoring for all STAR subjects is now open, Sun 1/25/26 through Thurs, 5/7/26.
 
Available SUNDAYS -- THURSDAYS, 7PM-MIDNIGHT  (Login until 11:30 PM)
  • Writing Any course through Masters level (except foreign language)--open 7PM-Midnight on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, and 7PM-9:30PM on Mondays and Wednesdays
  • Math Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calc I, & Intro to Statistics
  • Chemistry Intro & Gen Chem--open 7PM-Midnight on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and 8PM-10:30PM on Mondays and Tuesdays
  • Biology Intro and A&P--Sundays and Thursdays
  • Physics Intro--Mondays and Wednesdays
  • Economics Intro, Macro, and Micro
  • Computer Science Introductory level
  • Nursing Introductory level
  • Nursing Math Inc. drug measures; med labels/syringe calibrations; dosage, IV, and pediatric calculations
  • Accounting Any course below the 400 level--Mondays and Thursdays, 7:00PM-9:30PM
  • Psychology Introductory level
  • Organic Chemistry --open 7PM-Midnight on Sundays and Wednesdays, and 8:00PM-10:30PM on Mondays and Tuesdays
Funding for the STAR-NY Consortium is provided, in part, by SUNY Cortland. In addition, institutions pay membership dues to belong to STAR-NY.
