Laura Herd Cunningham, BSN, RN
Laura Herd Cunningham is a full-time didactic and clinical nursing instructor on the Saranac Lake campus, where she also serves as a Nursing Club advisor. Her nursing career began in 2006 as a certified nursing assistant, and she went on to complete the Practical Nursing certificate program at NCCC in 2010. After working in primary care in Syracuse, NY, she returned to the Adirondacks to work in urgent care while she earned the Registered Nurse credential from NCCC.
Laura spent the next eight years at a regional hospital, where she gained experience in medical-surgical nursing, endoscopy, ambulatory surgery, oncology, and the emergency department. She also served in supervisory roles across multiple departments. In 2020, she earned her BSN from Empire State University and is currently pursuing her MSN in Nursing Education.
In addition to teaching, Laura is actively involved in her community, coordinating a seven-week summer music series for the Village of Saranac Lake. She enjoys spending her free time exploring the Adirondack lakes and mountains, bringing the same enthusiasm and sense of community to her teaching that she shares outside the classroom.
