What is ASAP?

Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP) removes financial barriers to full-time study, provides structured pathways to help students gain and maintain academic momentum, and creates connected communities through integrated support and engagement activities.

Benefits of ASAP

Who is Eligible for ASAP?

All students must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen (NYS DREAM Act students also eligible)
  • Be eligible for in-state tuition
  • Be matriculated full-time in a North Country Community College Associate's degree program (minimum 12 credits per semester; certificate programs are not eligible)
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application
    • Note: Students from mixed status families are now eligible to apply for NYS financial aid without completing the FAFSA. The application can be found at the Higher Education Services Corporation Alternate Eligibility Path. Students may also reach out to ASAP staff to learn more about their options to apply for NYS aid. 
  • Receive at least $1 of federal Pell or NYS grant aid (TAP or Excelsior)
  • Agree to participate in required program activities
  • Take any required remedial courses immediately upon enrollment
  • Students must have previously earned no more than 21 credits applicable to their proposed program of study (excluding any earned while in high school) and hold a minimum 2.0 if already matriculated and applying to ASAP
