March 2009: Two NCCC students receive SUNY Chancellor's Award
Two North Country Community College students, Jordan Craig and Jennifer Zagrodzki, have been selected as recipients of the 2009 State University of New York Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence.
Each year SUNY honors outstanding students who have integrated academic excellence with other aspects of their lives, which may include leadership, community service, the arts, athletics or career achievement.
Jordan Craig resides in Saranac Lake and is the son of Todd and Cay Craig. He received his A.A. in Humanities and Social Science in December 2008. A leader on campus and in the community, Jordan promotes student leadership, civic engagement and giving back to his global community. Jordan is recognized as a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, a President and Treasurer for North Country Community College’s Student Government Association, a habitat volunteer in Mexico and a master at web site design.
Jennifer Zagrodzki of Wilmington, New York is the daughter of Lois and John Zagrodzki. She is completing her A.S. Sports and Events Management. Her academic and athletic accomplishments have empowered her to motivate, educate and guide children, teenagers or college students. When working on the field, in the classroom or at the residence halls, she defines the meaning of role model and makes a difference for many.
North Country Community College Interim President Fred Smith expressed his congratulations to the recipients: “This distinguished award acknowledges the outstanding attributes Jordan and Jennifer have displayed during their academic career at North Country. The Chancellor’s commendation is the highest of praise for any State University of New York student. The faculty, staff and students at North Country are very proud that they have been selected for this high honor.”
North Country Community College is sponsored by Essex and Franklin counties as a unit of the State University of New York.
