Men's Hockey Coaches

 

Shom Datta, Head Men's Hockey Coach

Head Coach Shom Datta returns to the Saints for his 6th season.  A Native of Brantford, Ontario, Datta lead the team to a 20-6-1 season in 2007-08, finishing up as Regional Runners Up.  Coach Datta also led the Saints to  a 2005 NJCAA National Runners Up and 2006 Region III Runners Up finish.  NJCAA Coach Datta was the 2004-05 Coach of the Year and Second Team Coach of the Year in 05-06.  Prior to coaching at North Country, he served as an assistant coach and head JV coach at New England College (NCAA DIII) in Henniker, NH.  Coach Datta has also played professionally in Europe and played his college hockey at Hamline University (NCAA DIII) in St. Paul, MN, earning a B.A. in Business Management.  In the off-season Datta also works from IHC Hockey, a pro hockey player placement and consulting firm from Pittsburgh, PA.  In addition to working with IHC Hockey, he is a head coach for a Can Am Hockey Group and director for Pro Ambitions Hockey out of Boston, MA.  Shom has also worked at various hockey schools for the past twelve years in the US, Canada, Czech Republic, and Austria.
