Saranac Lake Campus:

NCCC is currently seeking adjunct instructors to teach Concepts of Windows Based Software and Mathematics courses on the Saranac Lake Campus.

 

Malone Campus:

NCCC is currently seeking adjunct instructors to teach Concepts of Windows Based Software, Statistics, Essentials of Effective Writing, and Pre-Algebra courses on the Malone Campus.

 

NCCC is currently seeking adjunct instructors in the areas of Small Business Accounting, which will be offered at Bare Hill Correctional Facility in Malone.  A background check is required.

Director of Human Resources  Posted 11-20-09

 

Job Description: The Director of Human Resources will plan, manage and oversee the activities and operation of the Human Resources Department.  This includes developing, implementing and administering policies and programs that cover professional development/training, health and welfare benefits, compensation, labor relations, compliance and legal affairs, recruitment and employment. The Director reports to the President of North Country Community College.

 

Appointment: 12 Month, Management Confidential

 

Education/Experience:

Master’s degree or higher in a related area with five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a combination of human resources, organizational development, planning and research and project management, or Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related area with seven years of progressively responsible administrative experience in some combination of human resources, organizational development, planning and research and project management. North Country Community College accepts only degree credentials from accredited institutions recognized by the United States Secretary of Education and the New York State Department of Education.

 

Ability to develop and implement methods and procedures for improving and facilitating human resource processes

 

Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others

 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

 

Proven skills in expressing ideas effectively, both orally and in writing

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the integrity of the college human resource programs.  Plans, develops, and implements timelines and procedures for college-wide human resources/payroll functions including benefits, evaluation s and contractual agreements.  Oversees the maintenance of accurate leave records for all personnel.
  2.  Maintains and updates on an ongoing basis all personnel records and files, forms, job descriptions, Board of Trustees personnel actions, promotion and evaluation materials.
  3. Oversees the development and implementation of salary schedules for personnel according to contractual agreement or College policy.
  4. Advises and counsels all personnel upon request, resolves personnel and operational differences when possible.
  5. Advises and makes recommendations to the President regarding employee personnel operations and needs when applicable.
  6. Coordinates employment process by reviewing applications, training search committees and serving as primary resource.
  7. Provides college-wide leadership on issues, rules and regulations relating to human resources management and ensures compliance with Equal Employment criteria, the Fair Labor Standard Act, and all state and federal laws and regulations.  Assists supervisors and employees in understanding human resources policies and labor agreements; researches and investigates problems and recommends solutions.  Interprets policy, contractual provisions and state and local civil service regulations.
  8. Promotes and develops professional development programs for college personnel.
  9. Monitors state and federal Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action guidelines and assures equal employment opportunities for all.
  10. Monitors State, OSHA, Department of Labor ( State and Federal), and EOE/AAE data and statistical reports.

Staff Vacancies:

Custodian (1 P/T position at Ticonderoga campus - evenings)  Posted 12-17-09

 

This is routine manual work involving responsibility for the efficient and economic performance of cleaning and maintenance operations for buildings, grounds and equipment.  Supervision may be exercised over the work of subordinate cleaning or maintenance personnel.

 

Typical work activities include but not limited to:

  • Maintains floors (including sweeping, mopping and stripping)
  • Dusts desks, woodwork, furniture and other equipment
  • Washes windows, walls, blackboards, sinks, and other fixtures
  • Polishes furniture and metal furnishings
  • Empties waste baskets, collects and disposes of rubbish
  • Clears snow and ice from walks and driveways
  • Mows lawns, trims shrubs, rakes leaves, and performs a variety of other grounds keeping tasks
  • Operates heating systems including firing
  • Delivers packages and messages
  • Checks operation of clocks and bells
  • Puts out and takes in traffic safety signs
  • Arranges chairs and tables and other equipment for special use of buildings
  • Repairs window shades, replaces light bulbs, soap and towels
  • May paint rooms and equipment
  • Repairs furniture  
  • Make minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs
  • May prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports
  • Does related work as required

Good knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment, and abilityto use them efficiently and economically; working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of steam boilerequipment; ability to make minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry and mechanical repairs and to perform a variety of routine maintenance tasks; ability to follow oral and written directions; willingness to do custodialand other manual tasks; thoroughness; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the duties of theposition.
