SARANAC LAKE – One of the three candidates for New York’s 21st Congressional District seat has accepted an invitation from North Country Community College’s Office of Residence Life to meet with students, faculty, staff and community members prior to the Nov. 6 election.
Tedra Cobb, the Democratic candidate in the race, will visit the college’s Saranac Lake campus from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4. The event will be held in the Petty Lecture Hall (S-19).
Incumbent Republican Elise Stefanik and Green Party candidate Dr. Lynn Kahn were also invited to host events at the college but were unable to do so prior to the election.
The Nov. 4 event is organized by the college’s Office of Residence Life and the North Country Community College Association, a nonprofit organization that provides auxiliary services to the college.
“The goal is to increase voter awareness and encourage our students to vote,” said Robbie Woodward, NCCC’s associate director of residence life and housing. “Many of our students are first-time voters, so we felt it was important they hear directly from the candidates and have a chance to ask them about issues that matter to our students. Local residents are also welcome to attend.”
