Associate of Science in Sports & Events Management (HEGIS 5004)

 

The Sports & Events Management Program was designed in cooperation with the Olympic Regional  Development Authority of New York State.  This program prepares students for entry-level positions in facility management, industry, health and fitness, civic center management, country club management, or other related occupations.  By appropriate course selection, in consultation with a faculty advisor, students may transfer to a four-year institution to complete the requirements for a Bachelor's degree in recreation and leisure.  Internships are planned at the Olympic venues, recreational facilities in Lake Placid, and throughout the region which is one of the finest year-round recreational areas in the world.  The program combines course work in Liberal Arts, Business, and the theory of recreation.  A minimum of 64 credits with a grade point average of 2.00 is required for graduation.

Basic competency courses may be required of students who need to develop learning skills.  A maximum of 6 credits of basic skills courses may be applied toward a degree in the General Electives area.
