Admission to the Massage Therapy Program
The following minimum requirements will be considered for admission into the Massage Therapy program. Meeting these requirements will no guarantee admission to the program, which is highly competitive.
- Completion of a NYS high school / GED diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a NYS high school Regents Biology, or equivalent, with a passing regents score, or, a college level, 4 credt human biology course and laboratory, with a grade of 2.0/C or greater.
- Completion of a NYS Regents English II, or equivalent, with passing regents scores.
- Non-NYS graduates must have completed similar requirements at their previous institution.
- Bodywork Requirement: An applicant must submit documentation verifying that he/she has received one massage from a licensed massage therapist within the past two years. It is the applicant's responsibility to pay for the massage.
Transfer Students must be in good academic standing at their previous institution(s) with minimum GPA of 2.0/4.0 and meet the above requirements or their equivalent.
Please note:
- Admission is limited based on space available.
- It is strongly suggested that an applicant meet/talk with program faculty before beginning the application process.
- Students who are not granted admission into the Massage Therapy degree program will be offered admission into the A.S. Liberal Arts - Math/Science degree until such admission requirements for Massage Therapy have been satisfied.
- The Vice President for Academic Affairs reserves the right to deny admission to any person, whom she/he feels cannot successfuly complete the program without prior course study. Final decision for admission to the program resides with the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Students not meeting any one of the above requirements will have their admission applications material further reviewed by teh Director of Massage Therapy program or his/her designee. The Director may request additional information from the applicant, including, but not limited to the applicant attending an on-campus interview prior to rendering his/her recommendation. The Director or his/her designee, in concet with the Vice President for Academic Affairs office, will forward recommendation to the Enrollment Management Office recommending admission or denial of the candidate. This recommendation shall become part of the applications admission applicationand will be included in the final decision to accept or deny admission to the program.
