Prospective Students - Admissions - Health Related Career Programs
Admission to Health Related Career Programs
In order to register for the PN, ADN, or Radiologic Technology Program or Massage Therapy Program, a student must be in good academic standing. A student may not register for these programs if they are on academic suspension. In the event that a student is accepted into one of these programs and is on suspension, his/her acceptance will be withdrawn.
All medical documentation and required certification must be on file in the Records Office prior to the commencement of a semester. Failure to provide required information will lead to dismissal from the PN, ADN, Radiologic Technology or Massage Therapy program.
Please be advised that the one-year Certificate in Nursing (Practical Nursing), the Associate Degree in Nursing (Registered Nurse), the Radiologic Technology, and the Massage Therapy Programs are all Competitive Programs. Competitive admissions programs are highly selective. Admission decisions are based on meeting the listed requirements and other considerations. More offers of admission are granted for the competitive programs than space available. Only those students who have submitted an enrollment deposit prior to the class closing to further enrollment will be guaranteed a seat. This will be done on a first-come, first serve basis. All other students will be offered a position on a wait-list and their program changed to A.S. Math and Science.

Admission to the Nursing Programs
All students who wish to be considered for the PN program must take the Nursing entrance exams. These exams will be used, along with scores from past classes in science, math and English, in determining acceptance. Students who desire more specific information on this process should contact the Enrollment Management Office.
All students who wish to be considered for the ADN program must first complete a PN Program and be licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of New York unless the student is a recent NCCC graduate. Recent graduates must take the first possible exam to ensure licensure prior to the Fall semester of enrollment in the ADN program. If students have completed the PN Certificate at NCCC after 1995, the grades from the College experience will be used to determine acceptance into the ADN program. However, students who graduated prior to 1994 or who have graduated from another institution must take an NLN exam to determine acceptance into the ADN program. Students interested in taking the NLN exam must contact the Enrollment Management Office. There will be a fee to take the NLN exam.
All students must reapply for the PN and ADN program every year. Tiebreaker consideration will be given to those applicants who have submitted an application before February 1 of the year in which they are seeking Fall admission.
Students who wish to be readmitted into the PN or ADN programs must submit an application to the Enrollment Management Office. These decisions will be based upon available space in the program at the time of the application and committee approval. This committee will be comprised of the Vice President for Enrollment and Student Services, the Director of Nursing and a faculty member in the Nursing Program. Due to the competitiveness of the program, students who were previously academically ineligible to continue in the program will normally have a five-year waiting period before being considered for re-admission.
